Construction starts on $178 million South Central Jandakot expansion
Construction has commenced on Stage 2 of South Central Jandakot, following completion of enabling and civil infrastructure works.
Scheduled to open in September 2027, the expansion will be delivered by Satterley and managed by Centuria Capital Group (ASX: CNI) alongside the existing Large Format Retail centre.
The $178 million expansion set to create what is planned to become Australia’s largest Large Format Retail centre providing approximately 36,000 sqm of gross lettable area across a 70,000 sqm site. Designed by Meyer Shircore, Stage 2 will comprise showroom and Large Format Retail space, hospitality offerings and more than 800 car parking bays.
The project forms part of continued Large Format Retail investment across Western Australia and will also feature on the upcoming Large Format Retail Association 2026 WA Study Tour, giving participating members an opportunity to view the development as part of the tour program.
Satterley Founder and Chief Executive Nigel Satterley AM said the commencement of Stage 2 represented the next chapter in bringing the long-term vision for South Central to life.
“South Central has always been envisioned as much more than a retail precinct. It’s about creating a destination that reflects the growth of Perth’s southern corridor while providing businesses and consumers with a first-class Large Format Retail experience,” Mr Satterley said.
“Commencing Stage 2 is a significant milestone and brings us another step closer to delivering Australia’s largest Large Format Retail centre. This development will not only enhance the retail offering for the region but also generate employment, attract investment and support the continued growth of the City of Cockburn.”
Nick Hunt, Centuria’s Western Australia General Manager, said, “We are pleased to partner with Satterley on this much-needed Large Format Retail precinct, servicing the growing local community. Centuria diversified into the retail sector in 2021 and we’ve continued to grow our Large Format Retail holding to c. $2.1 billion. Current market metrics, coupled with further sector tailwinds, gives us a high conviction for the domestic Large Format Retail sector and we are looking to expand our portfolio throughout Australia.”
Satterley’s Head of Commercial, Bruce McCully, who is overseeing the project, said South Central was setting a new benchmark for Large Format Retail development in Australia.
“Large Format Retail is a sector we are very interested in expanding our presence, and South Central is exactly the type of project that demonstrates why,” Mr McCully said.
“With its scale, strategic location and exceptional tenancy mix, South Central will become one of Australia’s premier Large Format Retail destinations. The strong interest we’ve seen from national retailers reinforces the demand for high quality, well-located Large Format Retail precincts.
“The project builds on our existing Large Format Retail centre in Ellenbrook, together with our developments at Alkimos and Busselton, reflecting our continued investment in commercial destinations that support growing communities across Western Australia.”
Vend Property have been appointed to manage retail leasing opportunities within Stage 2.
Once complete, South Central will become Australia’s largest Large Format Retail centre, establishing a new benchmark for integrated Large Format Retail while reinforcing Jandakot’s position as one of Perth’s fastest growing commercial and employment hubs.
