Collaboration announced for Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre Bunnings Warehouse

National industrial and Large Format Retail property developer, Gibb Group, has just awarded construction of the Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre’s Bunnings Warehouse to Queensland company De Luca Corporation.

De Luca was selected from a shortlist of five, prequalified tenderers.

Fellow LFRA member, De Luca, has constructed over fifteen Bunnings facilities in Queensland since 2013.

Progress on the development is moving smoothly. At present, the development approval has been obtained from Livingstone Shire Council, and the operational works application has been submitted.

The detailed design phase can now commence following De Luca’s appointment. This will see LFRA member Leffler Simes Architects continuing their role as Architect under De Luca’s engagement, continuing their earlier engagement for all concept and DA design for Gibb Group.

The proposed multi-million-dollar Bunnings Warehouse development represents a significant investment in the region. The construction of the new 8,900 square metre store is proposed to provide an estimated 100 construction jobs and more than 60 operational jobs upon completion.

Gibb Group anticipates the operational jobs number will double with the inclusion of other tenants in the Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre. Now that De Luca has been selected, Gibb Group will commence formal marketing to lease the final remaining tenancy of 155 square metres, located adjacent to Hungry Jacks and Gus’ Coffee.

Stage 1 of the Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre had its official launch earlier in the year, with the opening of the purpose-built Reece Plumbing Centre in February. The centre has been designed with the capacity for a future stage to house a range of Large Format Retail premises, to cater to the future needs of the projected population of the Capricorn Coast region.

“We believe in this region. We are really excited to develop this important project and to secure quality national tenants to the Capricorn Coast,” Gibb Group National Development Director Matthew Thiselton said.

“This will be our first project with De Luca. They have an experienced team who has worked on many Bunnings projects together now for some time and we look forward to working with them in Yeppoon”.

Gibb Group is excited for this project to continue enhancing and developing the region’s retail sector and will make ongoing announcements about the centre’s construction and timelines over the coming months.
