Spotlight Group Breaks Ground at $100m Bennetts Green Development

Development of Spotlight Group’s latest 30,000sqm retail and commercial centre at Bennetts Green, 14 kilometres south-west of Newcastle in NSW, is set to generate 825 full-time-equivalent jobs during construction and more than 600 full-time jobs once open in 2020.

To celebrate the beginning of its construction, Zac Fried, Executive Deputy Chairman, Spotlight Group Holdings and Cr Kay Fraser, Mayor of Lake Macquarie City Council hosted an official sod-turning ceremony at the Pacific Highway site earlier this month.

“Bennetts Green is a significant development for the Spotlight Group,” said Mr Fried.

“We are investing almost $100 million in the local community to support long-term job opportunities and growth in the area.”

A relocated Bunnings Warehouse, Spotlight and Anaconda will anchor the site. Plans also reveal a number of other businesses including a McDonald’s and a BP service station.

“I’m thrilled to see this project started,” added Mayor Fraser.

“It is a huge investment in our community and will provide an ongoing injection to our City’s local economy by way of more construction jobs, more retail jobs and more retail options for our residents.

“I would like to congratulate Spotlight on their insight and ambition to see this project come to life and I know our community is waiting with anticipation to see it completed,” concluded Mayor Fraser.

Bennetts Green is a well-known Large Format Retail suburb, and currently houses notable brands including Harvey Norman, Supercheap Auto, Forty Winks, Snooze, Original Mattress Factory, BCF, John Mayne and Fantastic Furniture.
