Baby Bunting opens new distribution centre in Dandenong

Baby Bunting has recently opened its brand-new distribution centre in Dandenong, Victoria.

The 21,000m2 site will be the centre of operations and play a vital role in the company’s growth and future.

First established as a single store in Camberwell in 1979, the company has expanded to a network of 60 stores nationwide, guided by the same vision today as it was upon first opening: to be the most loved baby retailer for every family, everywhere.

Baby Bunting supports new and expectant parents every step of the way, by offering the widest range of products, as well as expert services and advice.

The ASX-listed company now employs over 1,400 people throughout Australia and is the largest specialty maternity and baby goods retailer in the country, and so it was a natural progression to build the new distribution centre to support this growth.

The new DC boasts a range of state-of-the-art features, including a completely new fleet of forklifts with ergonomic designs for drivers, a superior racking system and improved amenities for all team members.

And with safety front of mind, Baby Bunting will not only see improvements in productivity and efficiency but also a better working environment for all team members, contractors, and visitors.

As the business continues to expand, these innovations will play an important role in meeting growing demands and allowing Baby Bunting to live out their mission on a grander scale.

Sustainability was also a significant factor in designing the distribution centre.

On top of various eco-initiatives, the centre will also boast an on-site generator, 100-kilowatt solar panel system, electric car chargers, and reuse of rainwater for irrigation for the 4500 trees and shrubs planted across the premises.

“We are proud to have achieved a Green Star rating of 5 stars during construction,” said CEO and Managing Director, Matt Spencer.

“This is only the very beginning of our commitment to operating in a more sustainable, environmentally conscious way, now and into the future.”

Twice the size of Baby Bunting’s previous centre, the new DC will be a driving force in the company’s development, from expanding their Australian store network to supporting their online growth.

“We are so excited to be opening the new DC and welcoming the many opportunities it will bring us to grow – not only as a business, but also as a team and family,” said Matt Spencer.

“We look forward to expanding our mission and supporting more and more families across Australia in a distribution centre that allows us to operate every day in a safe, sustainable and efficient way.”
